It's Been That Kind of Week!

In the past two days:
*I've been told that the home we are under contract to purchase was in such horrible condition that our insurance company could not cover it. After a minor meltdown, it was discovered that the inspector was sent to the wrong house.
*Devon dropped his razor foils down the drain. I went to remove the u-trap to get them out but discovered it was rusted shut. When I was about to run to Walmart to buy a new razor (Devon has a big conference all week, making it a not so good day to rock the shaggy look),  Weston had his biggest meltdown ever, forcing me to put him down at 7pm and forgo the trip to Walmart.
*I had to wake both kids up at 10pm, load them in the car and drive them to the train station to pick up Devon because the car that he drove to work was locked in the parking garage overnight.
*I had to walk 1.5 miles to the train station, pushing a double stroller and carrying a carseat on my back.
*I set a laundry basket on the stove and while looking for an item if clothing, turned the stovetop on, nearly catching my whole kitchen on fire.
And to top it off...
*Our dryer is no longer working.

Whew! I'm tired ;)

Landon's Blessing/Utah Trip

I really wanted to bless Landon here in Dallas, since this is his home. But since it's hard for us to house even one guest in our little condo, we decided to travel to Utah for the blessing. Most of Devon's family is there and it's a shorter trip for my family. We left Wednesday afternoon and had quite the eventful airplane ride there. So eventful, in fact, that it has its own blog post. As for the rest of the trip...

Thursday

We started the day with a quick trip out to Saratoga Springs to do a quick walk-through of our house. I was so impressed with our renters! The house was immaculate, the yard looked 100x better then it ever had while we were living there and it was so nice to see the whole house being used. When our walk-through was complete we headed to downtown Salt Lake. I went to lunch with my friend Beckee and Devon went to lunch with his brother John.

That night we went to one of our favorite restaurants, Pizza Pie Cafe. Oh I miss that place!!

Friday

We went to go see Devon's grandma and his great uncle Bob. Uncle Bob passed away less than a week later, so we are really grateful we were able to see him one last time and he was able to meet Landon.

That night we got to see John and Michelle's new house. West had a blast watching the antics that go on in a house full of boys. Landon stayed safe hanging out with the one girl.

Saturday

My mom, Ricky and Shannon arrived, despite a big snow storm (Mother Nature made sure I didn't miss Utah too much). Just about all the family went to Tucanos for a late lunch. That place is good, but you sure feel like crap afterward! The rest of the day was spent recovering and getting ready for the big day, Sunday.

Sunday

All the family our friends, gathered at church for the blessing. Devon gave Landon an beautiful blessing!! After church we all went to Devon's parents house for brunch and a lot of pictures.

It was a wonderful day! I'm so grateful for my little boys.

Monday

We didn't leave until late afternoon and my family didn't leave until evening, so we went out and had a little fun! Shannon wanted to do a ropes course at Provo Beach resort, so we all tagged along and had a great time!

West wasn't left out of the fun!

More Pics from the Trip

I don't miss doing this! But West sure had fun helping Grandma

It didn't take West long to warm right back up to Grandma's horse

West LOVED watching Uncle Ethan play the violin.

Toddler on a Plane

We had quite the adventure flying to Utah for Landon's blessing. It was Weston's sixth trip taking an airplane and not once have we had a problem with him. Since he's an old pro at flying I wasn't one bit worried about the flight. But I should have been afraid, very afraid!

There was a huge debacle in regards to our seating arrangements on the plane but we thought it had worked out in our favor when we had the entire back row, window to window, to ourselves. The first half of the plane ride was great, West spent the time playing on the two empty seats next to Devon, while Landon laid sleeping on the empty seat next to me. West soon wanted to cross over the aisle to see me. He figured out very quickly that access to the aisle meant access to the entire plane. Not wanting to be 'those parents' with a child running up and down the aisle, I made West go back and sit with dad. He did not want to do that, so Devon and I switched, he sat with Landon and I sat with West. When West refused to stay in the row with me he started to meltdown. I took him into the bathroom with the hopes of calming him down, but the minute we stepped into the lavatory, he threw up all over both of us. The smell was so horrible, it just about caused me to throw up!At this point West was mine to handle the rest of the flight. I was pretty sure the throw up was a result of either motion sickness or being worked up, but in he event he was really sick I didn't want to get near the baby and I didn't want Devon to touch West and have the chance of two parents being covered in barf. When it came time for landing, West threw an absolute fit! It took every ounce of strength for me to keep him on my lap. While I could keep him contained I could not keep him quiet! Everyone started looking back toward us, my embarrassment was at an all time high! Devon made a suggestion and I promptly yelled at him to 'shut up.' Which, understandably, caused him to get upset with me. There's nothing like a scramming toddler to turn your only ally into your enemy. When it came time to get off the plane I was in tears. Weston was so worked up that he couldn't calm down! I walked through the airport in tears pushing a screaming little boy in his stroller. I had lots of older ladies stop to tell me that they had all been there and understood what I was going through, their empathy, while VERY much appreciated, only made me cry more. Soon we got our baggage, Devon and I made up and the buses outside the airport calmed Weston down.

We learned our lesson and on the return flight West was not allowed off Devon's lap and he did really well. Luckily, now this is just a story to tell. I look forward to the time, 20 years from now, when I'm the older lady seeing the throw-up covered young mom walking through the airport with a screaming toddler. I will truly be able to offer my empathetic condolences.

Easter 2013

Easter festivities started out with an Easter Egg hunt put on by my Mommies group. I wasn't sure that West would understand the whole concept of gathering eggs in a basket, since we had a little trouble with the whole Trick-or-Treating concept, but surprisingly he caught on and had a great time.

Easter Sunday I got the boys dressed for church in the matching tie and bow tie that Aunt Shannon gave to them and if I do say so myself they looked incredibly handsome! (Devon was very disappointed that he didn't have a matching one too ;)

After church we Skyped with grandma Paulette, so she could see the boys open their Easter baskets (She helped out the Easter Bunny a whole bunch)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this pic!!

We were invited over to a friend's house for Easter dinner. They cooked an amazing meal and West had a great time playing with his friend, Avery. They looked so cute eating dessert together at the table.

My only disappointment is the fact that there are a dozen hard boiled eggs in the fridge and a pack of dye on the counter and the two never ended up meeting! Oh well, there's always next year!
