West Richard Black

After months and months of waiting, it's now official, we have a very handsome little boy on the way! I could hardly sleep last night, I was so anxious to find out who the little one in me was. I was also a little scared; would we be able to tell or even worse, what if they found something wrong. Luckily the worrying was all for naught. He looked totally healthy and we got a VERY obvious view of the goods.

So, the name...As you can tell we've already got a name picked out for the little guy. Truth be told, we've had all our baby names picked out since we were dating. I've wavered a couple times, not wanting to change the names, but wanting to change the order, what we name our first girl, first boy, etc. But Devon put the breaks on that quickly, reasoning that we've already agreed on these names and there's no reason to go starting trouble now.

West Richard, formally Weston Richard, was the name we decided on for our first boy. West is a name that was introduced into my life a few years back and I fell in love! I suggested it to Devon and he said he liked it, but did not feel it was a 'real' name. We agreed that his official name would be Weston, but he would go by West.

Richard is my dad's name. My dad, more than anything else, wanted to be a papa. Unfortunately, because all of us children have lagged behind in the baby making area, he passed away before he had the chance. I guess he figured going to heaven was the only way he'd get to be a grandpa at all. In fact, after two months of trying and not getting pregnant, we sat down and had a little chat with my dad. We told him that we understood that he loved being up there with all his grandbabies, but it was time he let one come down. Surprisingly, a few days later we were pregnant. It was only fitting that we name our first boy after him.

Now, the real countdown in on! Only five more months until I get to hold this little guy. At least there is enough to keep be busy until then! I've got to get working on West's BYU nursery...
